Healthy snacks for your dog

We've all heard the statistics that obesity is on the rise in America. But did you know that obesity affects our pets too? Over half the dogs and cats in the U.S. are overweight. And that's not good. Like us, our pets are eating more and exercising less. So what can we do about it?

For starters we can be careful about what we feed out pets. Starting with a high quality food, feed meals on a regular schedule making sure to measure the amount you give them. While cutting down on treats is also a good idea, what do you do if every time you reach for a snack, you dog begs you to share? There are plenty of low calorie snacks that are healthy for both you and your dog! These include:

Apples

Baby carrots

Sweet potatoes

Green beans

Eggs

Blueberries

Watermelon (seedless)

Bananas

Cantaloupe

Pears

I know my girls love these treats and I feel good knowing I'm feeding them a good diet. What low calorie treats do you give your dog?
