Animal Rescue Coalition auction winner
Goodness gracious! I do love me some pink, don’t you?? Props in photos are a hit or miss but this pink chair definitely hit the jackpot. A family heirloom, when Bentley’s mom showed it to me, I couldn’t agree with her more when she suggested we incorporate it into their family photos. The fact that the Bougainville was blooming the day of our session, was, well, the icing on the cake.
Bentley’s family won my photo session at last year’s Animal Rescue Coalition’s Unconditional Love silent auction. I was super excited to learn that Bentley was a Havanese puppy and couldn’t wait to meet him and his family. Unfortunately, the pandemic had other plans and we had to wait several months, getting the session in barely before Bentley turned 1.
But one beautiful fall day, everything came together proving once again, that good things do come to those who wait.
When I started photographing dogs several years ago, I never had a desire to photograph the people who loved them. For me, it was uncomfortable. I knew dogs would never judge my work. Dogs are so carefree, it’s impossible to not to ask them to be themselves. They. Just. Are.
But the more I study posing, practice photographing people and incorporate pet owners in family photos, the more I find myself gravitating toward this kind of portrait work. The bond we share with our furry family members is so special and unlike any other relationship we have. It’s a beautiful thing really and one that deserves to be celebrated.
This year’s Unconditional Love event is virtual and takes place February 27, 2021. It’s FREE to attend too! I’ve donated another pet photography session to the silent auction. For more details and to register, click HERE. I can’t wait to meet the lucky winner!
