Happy Valentine's Day
My Valentine’s. My girls - Izzy, the golden retriever, Kita, the terrier mix and Tillie, the Australian Shepherd. Our dogs make the best Valentine’s, don’t you agree?
I used to have a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. When I was single, I dreaded the holiday. I felt like something was wrong with me that I had no one who'd send me flowers and no one to go on a date with.
Then I met my husband. Our first date was on Valentine’s day. A blind date at that! Later he told me he didn’t know it was Valentine’s Day when he sent that first email asking if I wanted to meet him that upcoming Saturday - Feb 14.
A blind date on Valentine’s day could be a blessing or a curse. In our case, it turned out to be the start of something wonderful. Ever since that fated day, I no longer dread the happy hearts day. Because now I always have someone to celebrate the day with.
Honestly though, love comes in all forms. The love for your mother, your child, best friend and even furry best friends. Valentine’s day should celebrate all of them. It’s not about romance, butterflies in your stomach and wondering who your secret admirer is. It’s about celebrating the love we have with those we share our lives with. And that is something worth celebrating every day!
Is your pet your Valentine?
