Stores like Home Goods, Ikea, TJ Maxx, World Market and Michaels are great to pick up inexpensive home decor items like wall art and table top decorations. And while I shop for these things too, what makes a house a home is the personal things we surround ourselves with.

I’ve been in hundreds of homes over the years. The ones that were always my favorite, were the ones decorated with personal items - souvenirs collected from trips, a wall collage of family photos taken over several generations, and framed artwork made by toddlers in preschool lining the hallway to the bedrooms.
