Capturing joy for a worthwhile project
Earlier this year, I was contacted by Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida (LRROF) to be one of the photographers for their 2025 calendar. Giving back has always been a key part of my business philosophy, so I was thrilled to be involved in such a meaningful project.
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at the shoots and the incredible dogs I had the pleasure of photographing!
Finn and Zeva: A Day at Myakka River State Park
For my first session, I met Finn and Zeva, two sweet rescued labs, and their parents traveled from the Fort Myers area to meet me at Myakka River State Park.
When planning the shoot, I had envisioned Finn and Zeva’s striking black coats standing out against the vibrant, colorful backdrop of yellow coresposis wildflowers. However, when we arrived, the field had been overtaken by non-native grasses, and the bloom wasn’t as impressive as in previous years.
Despite this, Myakka River State Park still offered a stunning natural setting for our session. We spent the evening exploring the park, capturing moments of the dogs running, playing, and interacting with their family.
I’m happy to share that the image we created together was chosen for the month of February in the 2025 calendar!
Tommy Lee: Sunrise at Clearwater Beach & Dunedin Murals
For my second shoot, I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Lee and his mom at Clearwater Beach for a sunrise session. I had never been here before, so I was excited to photograph Tommy Lee in this stunning coastal setting. The early morning light was soft and full of pastel colors, providing the perfect atmosphere for capturing Tommy’s awesome personality.
As the sun rose higher in the sky, we decided to take a stroll through Dunedin, a charming town nearby known for its vibrant murals and artsy vibe. We wandered through the quaint downtown area, stopping at some of the coolest spots to capture more photos of Tommy.
One of my favorite locations was a green wall with Spanish-style tiles. I love the pop of color against Tommy Lee’s light colored fur. It was a hit with the rescue group too as they selected it to be included in the calendar.
